Freddie Ljungberg returns after a 10 match absence.
He's straight back in the squad that's going up to Newcastle for tomorrow's FA Cup quarter-final. Arsenal have taken the unusual step of taking him straight to the first team without a reserve comeback. While we hope that this is because they are 100% certain of his fitness, it is possible that he'll just be on the bench for emergencies, and that the reason for his inclusion to that extent is the absence of Ray Parlour.
Parlour, who missed last week's match through suspension, is
out with an ankle injury picked up in training. Wenger says on Arsenal.com that he was definitely going to play Parlour tomorrow, and will delay his decision about bringing Freddie straight back in.
Luzhny is also out with a hamstring problem picked up in the Derby match on Tuesday, but it is thought to be minor and he should
be ok for the Deportivo game in midweek.
Of our other injured players, only Francis Jeffers returns. He is unlikely to start despite the absence of the suspended Thierry Henry.
Newcastle will be
particularly up for this one, not only for revenge for last Saturday,
but also to stop everyone going on about burst bubbles following their subsequent beating at the hands of Liverpool.
They are still missing Craig Bellamy, as well as Kieron Dyer and Gary Speed. Their new midfielder Jermaine Jenas is cup-tied.
